I want to increase awareness of how traces of the past are all around us, consciously and unconsciously connecting the present to what came before. In particular, I hope to make women's and gender history more accessible and visible to the general public. I write for both academic and general audiences.
As the Ifill College’s inaugural Alumni Chair in Public Humanities at Simmons University, I led multiple initiatives, including the Mary Eliza Project in collaboration with the Boston City Archives. I regularly host edit-a-thons to help improve the coverage of women and gender on Wikipedia. I tweet about history, research, teaching, and other topics here. You’ll also find me listed on Women Also Know History.
I enjoy working with teachers, librarians, archivists, public historians, researchers, and community organizations. I have been a consultant for educational institutions and government agencies. I am available for workshops, public talks and programs for audiences of all ages.
