My current research traces women’s transnational work and activism, within and across the overseas empire that the United States established in the Caribbean and Pacific. I’ve written about women travelers and teachers, physicians and nurses, missionaries and journalists, anti-imperialists and suffragists — including Clemencia López (picture, left).
